Former Vice President Joe Biden has clung to his shaky status as frontrunner in the Democrat Presidential primary.
But after this past weekend, all bets are off.
That’s because Joe Biden left jaws on the ground with a bombshell about this massive health issue.
Voters have many questions about former Vice President Biden’s age.
If Biden wins the 2020 election, he will be the oldest President ever inaugurated at 77-years-old.
During the early run of Biden’s campaign, the former Vice President looked as though Father Time had finally caught up with him.
Biden has maintained a leisurely campaign schedule that’s included few events – which have been spaced out – to give the candidate ample time to rest and not tax his stamina.
In each of the first two Presidential debates, Biden stumbled over his words, lost his train of thought and generally looked like a confused old man struggling to maintain control of his mental faculties.
Those concerns only heightened after Biden’s botched response to the tragedies in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.
Speaking at a fundraiser in San Diego, Biden extended his sympathy to the victims and their families while misstating where the horrific events took place.
The former Vice President incorrectly referenced “the tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before.”
Biden later corrected his mistake, but the damage was already done.
The Former Vice President sits atop the Democrat primary polls because of two reasons – name identification and the belief he is the strongest candidate to take on President Trump.
Biden’s supporters are attracted to him out of love for Biden or a deep belief in a cause Biden represents.
That is evidenced in the sparse crowds Biden draws to his infrequent campaign stops, as well as his less than robust small-dollar fundraising operation.
Any evidence that Biden is not up to the slog of a Presidential campaign will puncture his aura of “electability” and broadcast a signal to Democrat voters that they should look elsewhere for a Presidential nominee.
And Biden forgetting where the horrific events of El Paso and Dayton took place did not happen in isolation.
His misstep was another log thrown onto the fire of doubts burning in the minds of Democrat voters.
Biden’s poll numbers plummeted in the wake of his disastrous first Presidential debate.
They largely recovered in the weeks after the catastrophe as voters were willing to grant Biden a mulligan on his terrible performance.
In the second debate, Biden neither crashed and burned, nor extinguished the concerns about his age and mental acumen.
However, continued missteps by Biden going forward will not be so easily forgiven.
Eventually the field will winnow down to a handful of candidates and all the top contenders will appear on the debate stage together – as opposed to spread out over the course of two nights like in the first two debates.
At that point in time, Democrat voters will size up Biden and his challengers on equal footing and any more slipups or signs that Biden is past his prime could prove fatal.
Conservative Revival will continue to keep you up to date on any new developments in the 2020 Presidential election.
