The 2022 midterm election did not go the way anyone expected.
That left Joe Biden facing a big decision.
Joe Biden made this election confession that will have Democrat pulling their hair out.
Forecasters and pollsters all predicted a red wave washing across the country.
Instead, Republicans won the popular vote by between 2.5 and 3 points which led to uneven results across the country.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivered Democrats an apocalyptic defeat winning re-election by 19 points, winning the Hispanic vote, and realigning the political coalitions to cement Florida as a solid red state.
Republicans also won several House races in New York State which put the GOP on the path to winning a majority in the House of Representatives.
However, the GOP fell far short of the predicted gains and their majority may be as narrow as nine seats.
Senate candidates endorsed by Donald Trump underwhelmed in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia.
Democrat John Fetterman – who many believe suffers from brain damage following a stroke in May – defeated Trump endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz in a stinging defeat.
Fetterman flipped a Republican held Senate seat giving Democrats the upper hand on maintaining their Senate majority.
In many ways the election was a split decision and former Barack Obama chief strategist David Axelrod warned that in his post-election press conference Joe Biden should not take the election results as an “affirmation” of Joe Biden’s socialist agenda.
“Look, what I would advise would be to understand what the message was yesterday. I think it was a repudiation of extremism in all its forms. And I think he should note that and understand this wasn’t an affirmation of policies so much as that, and recognize that people are still struggling with inflation and other challenges and our job is to work together to try and solve them,” Axelrod stated.
Exit polls showed Biden’s approval rating sitting at 45 percent meaning that the majority of Americans disapproved of Biden’s war on American energy, socialist spending, and open borders policies.
Axelrod added that Biden should avoid “triumphalism” at all costs.
“Humility is good. And I think I would understand if they’re buoyant in the White House because this was a far better result than they anticipated. And so, much be — it must be an incredible relief. But I would advise against triumphalism and I would make it not about him, but about the country, and what it says about the country, and where we have to lead,” Axelrod added.
Of course, Joe Biden ignored that advice.
When a reporter asked Biden if he planned to make any recalibrations Biden scoffed at the idea.
“I’m not going to change anything in any fundamental way,” Biden declared.
Biden may come to regret that pronouncement.
At the press conference Biden strongly hinted he is running for re-election.
But the exit polls showed about 66 percent of voters do not want Biden to seek a second term.
And if Biden keeps on like he is keeping on, it could lead to disaster in 2024.
