Votes are still being counted and key races are up in the air.
But the direction of the results looks clear.
And Joe Biden used one word to describe the election results that means trouble.
Despite underperforming expectations and poll numbers it looks like Republicans are on track to win a narrow majority in the House of Representatives.
The Democrats gained one Senate seat by flipping Pennsylvania when stroke victim John Fetterman defeated Dr. Mehmet Oz.
However, the Senate race in Nevada is too close to call with Republican Adam Laxalt leading Democrat Senator Catherine Cortez Masto by 23,000 votes and Republican Herschel Walker pushed Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock into a runoff.
If Republicans sweep both of those races, they will win the majority in the Senate.
When it became apparent that even a “red ripple” would deliver the GOP the House of Representatives the focus immediately turned on to how Joe Biden would deal with a potential Republican majority.
Joe Biden’s goals of expanding the Green New Deal, imposing nationwide abortion on demand, packing the Supreme Court and granting amnesty are likely out the window now that Republicans look set to hold a majority in the House of Representatives.
But his legislative agenda grinding to a halt was not at the top of concern for Joe Biden.
Instead, CBS’s Robert Costa reported that Joe Biden described the next year as “brutal” knowing that a Republican majority planned to thoroughly investigate Hunter Biden’s corrupt business dealings and Joe Biden’s involvement in those transactions.
“Just been speaking to some people inside President Biden’s circle, some longtime confidants about how he’s seeing this moment tonight – potentially the Republicans taking the House,” Costa began.
“They say that he believes that next year could be ‘brutal.’ He has no illusions about the House Republicans should they have the majority. They will come after his family, including probing his son, Hunter Biden,” Costa added.
Costa continued on revealing that Biden expected a GOP Congress to impeach cabinet officials like incompetent Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for refusing to secure the border.
Biden feared Republicans in Congress may even impeach him.
“They’re going to maybe, possibly impeach members of his cabinet. He knows that, maybe even try to impeach him,” Costa stated.
If Republicans tried to impeach Biden it would likely be over refusal to secure the southern border, his involvement in Hunter Biden’s business deals, and weaponizing the FBI and Justice Department against Republicans.
The midterm election was not the GOP wave many predicted.
And while it was a disappointment, it was not total vindication for Joe Biden and the Democrats and the GOP looks on track for a House majority.
