Twitter continues to be a massive political headache for Joe.
After Elon Musk bought the platform, it became public knowledge that the Left used it to silence their critics.
And now, Biden’s State Department has just been caught in a huge government censorship scandal.
More than four months after he acquired Twitter, Elon Musk continues to release more information detailing the extent of the Left’s censorship regime that once operated on the website.
And now, it is becoming increasingly clear that there were far more powerful actors than simply Left-wing activists who were directing the widespread campaign to shut down conservative voices.
According to new documents released by Matt Taibbi, the U.S. State Department itself was not only organizing mass censorship activities on Twitter, but was actively funding efforts to shut down certain accounts for “inauthentic behavior.”
The Daily Caller reports, “An office within the State Department allegedly funded a think tank group that falsely labeled ordinary Americans as foreign political operatives, according to the latest batch of the “Twitter Files.”
The Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRL) reportedly provided a list of 40,000 accounts to Twitter in June of 2021 that were allegedly engaging in ‘inauthentic behavior.’”
What exactly classified an account as displaying “inauthentic behavior”?
Apparently, the only defining quality was that the account had to be conservative.
This was supposed to target accounts pushing “Hindu Nationalism” or operating as bots for a specific political party in India, but Taibbi’s investigation revealed that thousands of accounts were targeted despite having no connection to India at all.
“The DFRL denied it used GEC grant money to track Americans, insisting that it only used those funds for international activities, according to Taibbi. Taibbi contacted a number of the Americans on the list of accounts, who reportedly attested that they had no involvement in Indian politics or knowledge of Hindu nationalism at all,” adds the Daily Caller.
The most disturbing part of this story is the fact that the State Department was this closely involved in efforts to twist the conversation on a major social media platform like Twitter.
Once again, another batch of Twitter Files proves that the Left’s censorship scheme was far more wide-reaching than anyone could have possibly imagined.
And more and more evidence continues to emerge even months after Musk’s takeover of Twitter to prove that the platform was a hotbed for Left-wing censorship.
What’s more, this isn’t even the first time that the Left has been caught in the act.
Nor is this the first time that the Federal government has been discovered to have been working with Twitter programmers and executives to silence their political opposition online.
The Daily Caller concludes, “Prior reporting has shown that the State Department funded foreign institutions that worked to suppress conservative media outlets online. A previous edition of the Twitter Files showed that the GEC reportedly flagged Twitter accounts that were promoting the lab leak theory of COVID-19 origin, accusing them of engaging in ‘Russian disinformation.’”
The fact that the State Department under Joe Biden was caught engaging in this sort of behavior goes to show just how much power the Federal government has accumulated over the years, and how the Left shows no hesitation to use this power against their political adversaries.
