As the Republican Convention kicked off Donald Trump’s White House experienced a giant shakeup.
The timing could not have been worse,
And Kellyanne Conway just made this major announcement that left Trump speechless.
Four years ago Donald Trump brought on Kellyanne Conway as his campaign manager after a post convention reshuffling.
Conway made history becoming the first woman to manage a successful Presidential campaign.
She then accepted a role as White House counselor where she served as one of the President’s longest tenured senior aides.
But that all came to an end on the first day of the Republican National Convention where Conway announced she was leaving the White House at the end of the month.
“I am deeply grateful to the President for this honor, and to the First Lady, the Vice President and Mrs. Pence, my colleagues in the White House and the Administration, and the countless people who supported me and my work. As many convention speakers will demonstrate this week, President Trump’s leadership has had a measurable, positive impact on the peace and prosperity of the nation, and on millions of Americans who feel forgotten no more,” Conway’s statement announcing her departure began.
In her statement, Conway alluded to the political conflict between she and her husband George who is a prominent Never Trumper and how the two needed to put it aside to spend time with their children and be a family.
“I will be transitioning from the White House at the end of this month. George is also making changes. We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids. Our four children are teens and ‘tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents nationwide know, kids “doing school from home” requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times,” Conway added.
“This is completely my choice and my voice,” Conway continued. “In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.”
For his part, George Conway announced he was stepping away from the left-wing Lincoln Project and also taking a break from Twitter where he routinely criticizes President Trump.
“So I’m withdrawing from @ProjectLincoln to devote more time to family matters. And I’ll be taking a Twitter hiatus.” George Conway added. “Needless to say, I continue to support the Lincoln Project and its mission. Passionately.”
For the last four years the fake news media has tormented the Conway family with stories about George Conway working to elect Democrats while his wife serves as a senior counselor to the President.
But a tumultuous period of gossip and public political disagreements the Conways appear ready to just spend the foreseeable future as a family.
