Though Mike Pence isn’t in the spotlight all that much, the Vice President can sometimes be just as controversial as Trump is.
Typically though, he only upsets the Left, as his Christian beliefs are what the Left finds detestable.
Today, however, Mike Pence just did something that even upset some of his biggest supporters.
And when you see what he did, you’re probably going to roll your eyes and realize people on the Right can sometimes be snowflakes, too.
Pence recently went to Michigan’s Mackinac Island.
The small island isn’t well known, but the one thing the average American might be able to tell you about it, if asked, is that this is one of the few places in the U.S. that bans cars.
So when Pence showed up there in an eight-car motorcade, and that motorcade drove onto the island, it ruffled a few feathers.
Pence’s eight-car motorcade shuttled him aboard the island so that he could attend the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference. The small island, with a population of 500 some people, typically bans transport by automobile in favor of bicycles in the warmer months and snowmobiles in the winter.
Back in the 1900s, the island banned autos, but residents are allowed to use them on a case by case basis – and only when given an exclusive use permit.
Obviously, the Democrats made a big deal out of the VP’s use of cars.
“The Squad’s” Rashida Tlaib tweeted that Pence’s behavior was “disgusting,” even though members of the Executive branch rarely go anywhere without a motorcade.
“Disgusting. I am in such disbelief that this was allowed to happen. This Administration doesn’t care about the law (you know, the U.S. Constitution), so it shouldn’t surprise me so much that they don’t care about our history or traditions,” she tweeted.
And former Democratic Senate candidate Julia Pulver also used Twitter to complain about what Pence did:
“For those not from MI, you should understand what a huge transgression this is.
“Our #MackinacIsland has been a car free haven forever, a piece of history frozen in time. Tell anyone from MI @VP just drove not 1 but 8 CARS on this island & watch their blood boil.”
That kind of reaction out of the Left is to be expected.
Unfortunately, some Pence supporters also reacted similarly.
Former FOX News contributor Greta Van Susteren tweeted, “A motorcade on Mackinac Island????????!!!!!! How can that be? Google Mackinac Island.”
Other Pence supporters sounded off as well.
“What the holy what? You can walk the perimeter of Mackinac Island in like two hours without breaking a sweat. It’s 4.53 square miles. Eight miles of coastline. Cars are banned for a reason,” another Twitter user wrote.
All in all, everyone is making much ado about nothing.
Pence’s visit didn’t hurt the island, people on the island, or damage the environment in any way, shape, or form.
The fact people get upset about something like that but don’t care about the Russian collusion hoax or MS-13 members flooding over the borders show just how genuinely trivial people can be.
