The Presidential election has faded into the background.
But that does not mean the campaign has stopped.
And now a mistake from Joe Biden’s past just made the coronavirus outbreak much worse.
Joe Biden is pitching himself to voters as “the return to normalcy” candidate.
The former Vice President, his campaign team and his cheerleaders in the fake news media claim Biden is a steady hand that would provide superior leadership in comparison to Donald Trump.
Since the Chinese coronavirus pandemic is likely to last for months Biden asserts that his temperament and experience would better help guide the country through the outbreak.
But none of those claims are backed up by the facts.
Biden’s critics point to the former Vice President’s irresponsible comments during the 2009 and 2010 Swine Flu pandemic that caused panic among the public and damaged the airline industry.
Biden appeared on NBC’s “Today Show” and host Matt Lauer asked Biden about airline travel during the outbreak.
“If a member of your family came to you and said, ‘Look, I want to go on a commercial airliner to Mexico and back,’ within the next week, would you think it’s a good idea?” Lauer asked Biden.
“It’s not that it’s going to Mexico, it’s you’re in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft.” He added he wouldn’t advise taking the subway, either: “If you’re out in the middle of a field and someone sneezes, that’s one thing; if you’re in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it’s a different thing,” Biden responded.
Biden’s response sent the Obama administration scrambling into damage control mode to walk back Biden’s misinformation and medically unfounded advice.
Then Press Secretary Robert Gibbs tried to clean up Biden’s remarks during a briefing with reporters.
“I think what the vice president meant to say was the same thing that again many members have said in the last few days,” Gibbs told the press.
“I understand what he said, I’m telling you what he meant to say,” Gibbs continued to laughter from the press corps after he was pushed further. “Obviously, if anybody was unduly alarmed for whatever reason we would apologize for that and I hope that my remarks and remarks of people at the CDC and [Obama Homeland Security] Secretary [Janet] Napolitano have appropriately cleared up what he meant to say.”
Biden’s reckless spread of misinformation threatened to tank the airline industry during a time when Americans were on edge.
Doctors explained that a person sneezing would not infect the entire plane.
That individual did threaten those in the two or three rows closest to them.
The former Vice President touts his resume as the reason voters should hand him the Presidency.
However, the Trump campaign will argue that Biden was tested during an outbreak and failed to clear the bar of competent leadership.
