Never Trump traitor Mitt Romney is in huge trouble.
And now it could be Romney that faces impeachment.
That’s because Donald Trump blew the whistle on this huge Mitt Romney scandal and now nothing will ever be the same.
When Mitt Romney voted to convict President Trump on the Democrats’ abuse of power article of impeachment Republicans could not figure out what was going on.
Romney rejected the idea that the President had a legitimate interest in pursuing an investigation into Joe and Hunter Biden’s alleged corruption surrounding the shady Ukrainian energy company, which paid Hunter Biden $83,000 per month to sit on their board of directors at the same time then-Vice President Joe Biden ran point on the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.
In defending his act of betrayal, Romney waved off any concerns about Hunter Biden, saying the optics were bad but no laws were broken and that President Trump supposedly invited foreign interference in the 2020 election by asking the Ukrainian government to look into this alleged corruption.
After Romney offered up this explanation it did not take long for the President or his supporters to realize Romney was not acting in good faith.
The President and his campaign threw the allegations back in Romney’s face and accused him of acting to cover up his own shady connections to Burisma.
President Trump and his allies cited a little-noticed story from last fall about how Cofer Black – the longtime CIA officer and national security advisor on Romney’s 2012 Presidential campaign – joined the board of directors of Burisma in 2017 which meant his time overlapped with that of Hunter Biden.
In September 2019, the American Thinker reported that:
Mitt Romney’s national security adviser in his 2012 campaign — a career CIA spook who rose to its top levels — sits on the board of directors of Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company that formerly paid Hunter Biden $50K a month despite his complete lack of credentials or qualifications…
The President retweeted several links to stories in media publications about Romney’s connections to Burisma after Romney’s impeachment treachery and openly wondered if the real scandal was Romney trying to cover up his own links to Burisma.
Now the irony of the situation is that since Romney failed in his quest to impeach the President, it is Romney that faces removal from office.
Representative Tim Quinn proposed the bill to put a measure on the ballot to allow citizens to recall Senators – not to specifically target Romney – but to make sure there was a “good mechanism in place to make any senator, current or future, a little more accountable to those who elected him or her.”
Quinn told the Desert News that he had been working on drafting the bill for over a year and it just so happened to be ready after Romney stabbed the President and his supporters in the back.
