Former President Barack Obama has felt envious of his former vice president and has “complicated feelings” about him according to a book that will be released in early May.
Two New York Times reporters, Alexander Burns and Jonathan Martin, will be releasing a book May 2 titled “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future.” In the book, the authors said Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi reportedly said Obama is “jealous” of Biden, Fox News reported Monday.
“Nancy Pelosi, who spoke regularly with the former president, came away from her conversations with Obama during this period with a matter-of-fact diagnosis. She told a friend: ‘Obama is jealous of Biden,’” the book reportedly states.
The book also alleges that Obama is upset that the Biden administration is seen as pushing the progressive agenda further than Obama and portrayed as being more transformative than Obama’s presidency by many.
“I am confident that Barack is not happy with the coverage of this administration as more transformative than his,” the book quotes Biden as saying, citing an adviser, according to Fox News.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed the pair “talk regularly” and that their friendship is not “a relationship of obligation.”
But when Obama visited the White House early in April he behaved coldly toward Biden even when the president was trying to get his attention.
During Obama’s visit he referred to Biden as “Vice President Biden” in his speech and tried to laugh it off as a mere joke.
After the speech was over he ignored Biden even when Biden was trying to get his attention despite the camera rolling.
Video footage showed Biden looking lost as Democrats flocked around Obama, Biden wandered confused off stage while members of the Biden White House gathered adoringly around Obama.
Obama didn’t want to share the limelight with Biden.
Later at the meet and greet when the president tried to speak to Obama by placing his hand on Obama’s shoulder, Obama shrugged the hand off without even looking in Biden’s direction as he continued to talk to other guests.
Sources have claimed that Obama has worried that a Biden presidency would ruin his own presidential legacy.
“Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f*** things up,” Obama told a confidant during the 2020 cycle, according to Politico.
“He may have said that. And if it’s true, and he said it, there’s truth to it,” Biden said in response to reports of Obama’s alleged remarks.
