Now, Nancy Pelosi has an insane mandate she wants to force on America.
Last Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi celebrated after news media outlets – Fox News and The Associated Press – announced Democratic nominee Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election.
She then went on to explain her “mandate for action.”
This mandate comes as a shock considering the poor performance of the Democrats in the House elections.
“Today marks the dawning of a new day of hope for America. A record-shattering 75 million Americans cast their ballots to elect Joe Biden President of the United States — a historic victory that has handed Democrats a mandate for action. President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris won with a strong margin, and they will have a strong Democratic House Majority by their side. Working together, we have the opportunity to deliver extraordinary progress For The People,”
According to the New York Times election tracker, Democrats have failed to win a single toss-up seat, never mind seats that were already projected to go red.
This poor performance by the Democrats has sparked infighting amongst the party members.
Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib have been incredibly outspoken against their other more moderate party members.
When Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger took issue with the slogans promoting “defunding the police” and “socialism,” Ocasio-Cortez took her down immediately.
“When it comes to ‘Defund’ & ‘Socialism’ attacks, people need to realize these are racial resentment attacks. You’re not gonna make that go away. You can make it less effective. How do you make it less effective? Invest in year-round deep canvassing. Data shows that this kind of work helps blunt the force of racial resentment at the polls. If you’re always running away from convos about race, then the only ppl owning it are GOP. You’ll lose.”
Tlaib was even harsher with Congressman Conor Lamb, who agreed with Spanberger and said that the Democratic Party will pay for supporting those movements.
He said they will pay “the price” for “unprofessional and unrealistic comments.”
“It’s unrealistic and unprofessional to be okay with people dying because air pollution is causing cancer in their communities. It’s unrealistic and unprofessional to look away while Black folks get gunned down in the streets by police.”
Despite all of this infighting and disagreements, Pelosi plans on running for Speaker of the House again.
But with her party’s downward spiral, it is not likely she will be re-elected.
In addition, it is not likely the Democrats will see a House majority at this point.
With so many Republicans already having won seats and the Democrats winning barely any, their prospects are not good.
At this point, the Democrats would have to win all the remaining seats to be declared the majority and that is an incredibly unlikely scenario.
The Democrats have won the Presidential election, but there is still a significant amount of work to be done at the lower levels of government.
