Nancy Pelosi said she could barely sleep.
She felt like all of her party’s efforts to pin down Trump had gone up in flames.
So why was Nancy Pelosi practically in tears when William Barr made this bold move?
For months, the Democrats bided their time waiting for the Mueller report to be released.
They were banking on it ending Trump’s Presidency.
But it didn’t.
Early in April, Attorney General William Barr issued a 4-page conclusion citing that the Mueller report provided no evidence for criminal proceedings against the President.
The Democrats couldn’t handle it.
So led by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, they insisted Barr give testimony about the report before Congress.
In his testimony, Barr (who is a close and personal friend with Mueller) reiterated that the report did not provide substantive evidence for the Department of Justice to bring charges against Trump.
Pelosi and her cronies couldn’t believe it.
Pelosi claimed that Barr had lied to Congress and should be tried for his crimes.
During a press conference, a flustered Pelosi railed:
“Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday said Attorney General William Barr committed a crime by lying to lawmakers during his testimony on Capitol Hill… What is deadly serious about it is the attorney general of the United States of America was not telling the truth to the Congress of the United States. That’s a crime,” Pelosi lamented.
“How sad it is for us to see the top law enforcement officer in our country misrepresenting — withholding — the truth from the Congress of the United States,” she continued.
“He lied to Congress; he lied to Congress. And if anybody else did that, it would be considered a crime… nobody is above the law; not the President of the United States, and not the attorney general.”
The Democrats believe that since Mueller wrote a letter to Barr claiming that he “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions,” that somewhere in the report must lie the smoking gun to prosecute President Trump.
But as conservative talking head Ben Shapiro noted on his podcast, Mueller is mad that the President, whom he holds in contempt, is going to get away with being “a mean guy.”
If Pelosi’s assertion that Barr lied to Congress was true, then Mueller’s letter should have read: “Clearly the Attorney General’s office did not heed our recommendations to bring criminal charges against the President.”
Pelosi’s whining proves exactly what we’ve known all along.
The entire Russian collusion story was a farce and the Democrats are furious that they now look like fools.
