Democrats in Congress are panicking.
With Nancy Pelosi no longer in power, her top allies are watching their power fade away.
And now, Nancy Pelosi’s two closest allies just got humiliated thanks to one letter.
After years of abusing their positions in office, two of Nancy Pelosi’s top allies in Congress have found themselves expelled from one of the most powerful committees in the House of Representatives.
And Democrats are outraged over the fact that their actions are finally coming back to haunt them.
The decision was recently announced by Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who declared that the actions of Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell over the years were so egregious that he would never allow them to return to their old posts on the Intelligence Committee.
The Hill reports, “Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Tuesday formally rejected two Democrats — Reps. Adam Schiff (Calif.) and Eric Swalwell (Calif.) — from serving on the House Intelligence Committee, escalating the two-year tit-for-tat battle between the parties over who is qualified for certain positions on Capitol Hill.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) had written to McCarthy on Saturday asking that both Schiff and Swalwell be seated on the Intel panel, where membership assignments come solely at the discretion of the Speaker.”
In a letter back to Pelosi’s replacement in the Democratic Caucus, McCarthy fired back hard, declaring that both Schiff and Swalwell had disgraced themselves and were no longer worthy of serving on the Intelligence Committee.
“In order to maintain a standard worthy of this committee’s responsibilities, I am hereby rejecting the appointments of Representative Adam Schiff and Representative Eric Swalwell to serve on the Intelligence Committee,” McCarthy wrote.
The announcement comes after both California Democrats have found themselves in the middle of two massive scandals that jeopardizes both of their careers.
Adam Schiff is notorious for having lied to the American people repeatedly about Donald Trump, going so far as to try and fabricate evidence that he was guilty of colluding with the Russians to “steal” the 2016 election.
Schiff also tried to use his position in Congress to silence his critics online, with several documents released by Twitter following Elon Musk’s purchase of the site revealing that Schiff pressured Twitter employees to ban the accounts of reporters who criticized his office.
Meanwhile, Swalwell finds himself in an entirely different scandal, having been caught sleeping with a Chinese spy at the same time that he was serving on one of the most important national security related committees in Congress.
McCarthy pushed back against the Democrat’s water-carrying allies in the mainstream media when they challenged him on the decision to block both Schiff’s and Swalwell’s appointments to the Intelligence Committee.
“When Eric Swalwell would be in the private sector and can’t get the security clearance there, we are not gonna provide him with the secrets to America,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy also slammed Schiff, by pointing out that he has abused his power repeatedly while in charge of the Intelligence Committee, and that as long as Republicans hold the majority in the House of Representatives, he will never return to the committee.
Both Schiff and Swalwell do not deserve to even be in elected office, let alone serving on a committee that regularly handles classified information, but the decision to boot them both off of one of the most powerful committees in Congress serves as a serious blow to Congressional Democrats.
