A women who escaped from North Korea has a huge warning about American schools.
American classrooms are no different from those in her home country.
A North Korean defector exposed ‘woke ideologies’ identical to what she was taught.
Yeon-mi Park is a North Korean defector whose family fled from North Korea to China in 2007. She later graduated from Columbia University but her experience with American’s education does not impress her. In fact she said on Tuesday “woke ideologies” taught in American classrooms remind her of her home country.
“When I came to America, having no idea, I thought somehow this was a free country where individuals can have different thoughts and opinions. When I started university at Columbia University, I couldn’t believe because they were exactly saying the same things that my North Korean teachers told me in the North Korean classroom,” Yeonmi Park, author of the book “While Time Remains: A North Korean Defector’s Search for Freedom in America,” told Fox News host Sandra Smith.
“They said all the problems that we have in the world is because of the greedy capitalism and also the Western civilization and white man,” Park said. “That was the exact same thing that my North Korean teachers told me, that all the evils was because of USA and capitalism.”
Marxism has been increasing in American schools for decades. In 1989 the New York Times published an article, headlined “The Mainstreaming of Marxism in US Colleges.”
The language of Marxism was changed and the class warfare talk was changed from bourgeoisie verses proletariat, what the colleges talked of instead was the patriarchy versus women, the racially privileged versus the marginalized, and students were taught to view everything through the lens of oppression.
”Marxism and feminism, Marxism and deconstruction, Marxism and race – this is where the exciting debates are,” Jonathan M. Wiener, a professor of history at the University of California at Irvine, told the paper.
Columbia University, which Park attended, promotes students getting involved in a school program where they can “critically engage with whiteness.”
“Every White person who claims and/or believes themselves to be liberal, progressive, and a champion for social justice NEEDS to critically engage with whiteness in this way in order to truly begin to do real work,” the post said, which was attributed to a Students Exploring Whiteness participant. “It’s not just a program of learning, discussion, and activities; it helps you develop the mindset, outlook, practice, and lifestyle that is necessary to truly being anti-racist.”
“At Columbia, professors are saying the only solution to all these problems is a communist revolution, we need to dismantle the system in the name of equity,” Park said.
