Joe Biden’s intentions about running for re-election is the biggest mystery in American politics.
Democrats worry that Biden’s weakness invites a political comeback for Donald Trump.
And one Democrat predicted Joe Biden may not run in 2024 for this scary reason.
During Joe Biden’s first – of his very rare – press conferences this past March, Biden claimed he intended to run for re-election in 2024.
But the Real Clear Politics polling average shows Biden’s approval number sinking to 41 percent.
And multiple polls show a majority of Americans do not believe Biden is mentally fit enough to serve as President.
In the face of these declining political fortunes, the Washington Post reported Joe Biden continues to tell Democrats behind closed doors that he intends to run for re-election.
“President Biden and members of his inner circle have reassured allies in recent days that he plans to run for reelection in 2024, as they take steps to deflect concern about the 79-year-old president’s commitment to another campaign and growing Democratic fears of a coming Republican return to power,” the Washington Post exclusively reported.
Of course, Joe Biden has to say he would run for re-election.
Biden’s presidency would end the second Biden announced he wasn’t running for re-election.
But few outside Biden’s circle take that statement as face value citing the fact that the question exists as evidence Biden will not run for re-election.
“I hear this question get asked every day,” said another Democratic veteran of recent presidential campaigns, about whether Biden will run for reelection. “No one ever asked that question about Barack Obama. No one ever asked that question about Donald Trump.”
Biden’s status is so fragile that one of Biden’s top donors – Florida lawyer John Morgan – allowed the Washington Post to quote him on the record wondering if Biden will not be able to run for re-election in 2024 because Biden may not be alive.
The Washington Post exclusively reported:
Florida trial lawyer John Morgan, who was a top 2020 Biden donor, said he was unsure whether Biden would seek reelection.
“What is his health going to be in the next three years?” he wondered aloud. “All you have to do is look at the mortality tables in America to understand what I’m saying.”
Obviously no one wants that to happen.
But just ten months into his presidency Joe Biden is considered such a lame duck President that the party’s megadonors have no fear of going on the record to speculate about the actuarial tables factoring into Joe Biden running for re-election or not.
The American presidency is the most powerful office on earth.
Members of a party rarely speak out on the record against a sitting president of their party because the president has the ability to destroy any future prospects for influence or future office.
Clearly no one holds that level of fear in their heart of Joe Biden.
