Donald Trump is finding out that even though the election is a little over 100 days away not everyone in the Republican Party is united behind him.
In fact, one of the top Republicans in Congress was found to be working behind the scenes to sabotage the President.
And Rand Paul called this anti-Trump traitor with one devastating truth.
During a recent meeting of the House Republican Conference multiple conservatives slammed Liz Cheney – daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and the third ranking Republican in the House – for a steady stream of betrayals against President Trump.
Chief among these double crosses was Liz Cheney conspiring with Democrats to pass an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act to restrict President Trump’s ability to fulfill his campaign promise to end the war in Afghanistan.
Liz Cheney shares a foreign policy with Hillary Clinton that favors endless wars in the Middle East.
Donald Trump won the Presidential election in 2016 because he rejected the Bush/Cheney/Obama/Clinton foreign policy of global military engagement.
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is one of the conservatives that believes establishment RINOs like Liz Cheney are poisoning the well because they secretly hope Donald Trump loses in November so they can reassert control over the Republican Party.
“I don’t think she’s good for the country,” Senator Paul said in an interview.
Cheney claims to support President Trump and holds up her perfunctory endorsement as evidence she would like to see Trump win re-election.
But Paul pointed out Cheney has a funny way of showing support considering she undermines the President on his core issue of foreign policy at every turn.
“I mean she tries to sabotage everything he tries to do in foreign policy, so I don’t know whether she’s a good advocate for the President or not,” Paul explained.
The Kentucky Republican noted Cheney’s desire to continue America’s 19 year-long war in Afghanistan as evidence she was out of touch with President Trump and the American people.
“I think one of the good things about President Trump is he’s tried to end the war in Afghanistan after 20 years,” Paul continued. “Liz Cheney was one of the main obstacles to ending the war.”
“I’m not a big fan of the perpetual war caucus. And these are the neoconservatives in our party that really try to prevent us from trying to disengage from a war,” Paul added.
One way or the other the Republican Party will have a new leader in 2024 when the next Presidential Election rolls around.
Liz Cheney is trying to establish herself as leader of the Bush/McCain/Romney wing of the Republican Party.
But as the past several days have shown, conservatives are not about to let the establishment RINOs accumulate power by lying to their voters to seize power once again.
