GOP voters could not believe it.
But the ugly truth is now out.
And Republicans met in secret with Joe Biden to pass this massive tax increase.
Joe Biden is trying to pass a massive expansion of the socialist welfare state and impose the Green New Deal using an “infrastructure” bill as a Trojan horse.
Biden plans to include huge tax increases on corporations and the “wealthy” – many of whom are small business owners – by raising the top tax rate.
But Biden’s plan also included a backdoor tax increase through inflation as the Federal Reserve prints money to fund the program.
Republicans – led by West Virginia Senator Shelley Moore Capito – are negotiating with Biden and offered a proposed infrastructure bill nearing one trillion dollars in spending.
Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told MSNBC that he was pleased to see Republicans offering more spending in their latest proposal.
“Their latest proposal gets to the neighborhood of a trillion dollars. That’s a good sign. There is a lot of — obviously, a lot depends on the details, and there’s still some daylight between where we have come in and what the Republicans came forward with this morning. But what it shows me is the idea that we need to make a major, major investment on the order of a trillion dollars plus. 1.7 is what we are calling for in our latest plan. That’s a general principle we can agree on,’ Buttigieg began.
Buttigieg added that while Republicans wanted to strip out the Green New Deal and welfare provisions in Biden’s plan, the administration remained confident they could reach a backroom deal with Republicans.
“Now, we are concerned there are a lot of things we think weren’t in the counteroffer that really needs to be there. There are a lot of steps we need to take on everything take on everything from climate to modernizing veterans’ hospitals that we strongly believe ought to be part of the package we put together. But this is the season of sausage making. It’s going to continue to be this back and forth with lots of conversations, with lots of members of Congress. What I will say is that, you know, unlike some of the moments we have had in our political life. Recently, this conversation has, in my experience, continued to be focused. It’s been transparent. Sometimes, there are big differences, but it’s been a very honest conversation, too.” Buttigieg added.
Biden and his advisors are not concerned about Republicans removing welfare and Green New Deal provisions from this so-called “infrastructure” bill.
Democrats plan to pass all that via reconciliation – which allows the Senate to pass budget bills with just 51 votes – in a second bill later this year.
What Biden wants is for Republicans to sign on to “bipartisan” bill that will allow Biden to trumpet his ability to “unify” the country.
Democrats also want Republicans to sign on to deficit financed spending to defang potential GOP attacks in the 2022 midterms on Biden’s policies causing runaway inflation.
