The mainstream media have given up any pretense of objective journalism.
But they aren’t willing to face the consequences of their actions.
Ron DeSantis has a boycott that sent CNN into a complete meltdown.
The left is worried about the popularity of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and they’re openly targeting him.
Last week CNN’s Jim Acosta suggested naming the Delta variant the “DeSantis variant.”
“Instead of the delta variant, why not call it the DeSantis variant?” Acosta asked. “We could sell beer koozies that say ‘Don’t Florida My Fauci,’ and use the money to help pay for all of the funerals in the days to come.”
“It’s clear that CNN, which apparently functions as a PR firm for the Democratic Party, is afraid of Gov. DeSantis,” DeSantis spokesperson Christina Pushaw said. “Why? Because he’s leading our state through the challenges of this pandemic while respecting parents’ rights to raise their kids, workers’ rights to earn a living, and everyone’s right to make their own informed decisions.”
His leadership, she added, is “inconvenient for CNN’s narrative of fear over facts, and that’s why CNN is attacking him.”
It’s clear that CNN is out to get Ron DeSantis.
While other Republicans give in and give interviews to news outlets that attack them DeSantis has decided to avoid giving interviews to CNN and MSNBC.
In a statement, spokesperson Taryn Fenske said: “While other networks were busy lauding states whose governors have either retired in disgrace or are undergoing a recall, Fox News was willing to hear our perspective and report the facts.”
This year DeSantis has given interviews to Newsmax, One America News Network, Fox News and the Weather Channel.
The Tampa Bay Times reported the number of times that Florida’s Governor has appeared on Fox News.
“Since Trump’s defeat, DeSantis is a Fox regular once more,” the Florida publication added. In the first six months of 2021, “DeSantis had scheduled as many appearances with top Fox hosts Hannity (8 times), Tucker Carlson (6) and Laura Ingraham (7) as he had meetings with his lieutenant governor, Jeanette Nuñez (7), according to his public calendar.”
Other Republicans are happy to go on CNN despite their biases.
On August 1, Gov. Mike DeWine (R) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) went on CNN to continue to focus of the January 6 riot and coronavirus fears.
Sen Bill Cassidy (R-LA) went so far as to go on CNN and betray his own party by attacking other Republicans.
When asked about GOP governors blocking mask mandates, Cassidy responded:
“And whenever politicians mess with public health, usually, it doesn’t work out well for public health, and, ultimately, it doesn’t work out for the politician, because public health suffers. And the American people want public health.”
