Some Republicans are worried about the state of the Presidential election.
Polls show Joe Biden holding a lead over President Trump.
Rush Limbaugh issued this warning for Trump that took the President by surprise.
A recent New York Times/Siena poll showed Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by points.
Fox News showed President Trump trailing by 12 points.
Some Republicans in Washington are beginning to sound alarm bells demanding the President shake up his campaign and change his message.
But Rush Limbaugh offered a history lesson.
At this exact same time four years ago the Washington Post/ABC poll found Trump trailing by 12 points to Hillary Clinton.
“Well, let’s do it. Washington Post/ABC poll. June 26th, 2016. Exactly four years ago. This headline: “Clinton Opens 12-Point Lead on Trump as Two-Thirds See Him as Biased — Hillary Clinton surged to a broad advantage against Donald Trump,” blah, blah, blah, blah. The article is by the pollster Gary Langer. Here’s how it starts,” Limbaugh stated.
Limbaugh then read from the news story that accompanied the poll and noted how it sounded similar to today.
“The new poll shows Hillary Clinton 12-point lead the poll showed Clinton with a 51 to 39% lead over Trump among registered voters. Hillary surged to a broad advantage against Trump in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll capitalizing on Trump’s recent campaign missteps. Two-thirds of Americans see him as biased against groups like women, minorities, or Muslims, and a new high, 64%, call him unqualified to serve,” the Post reported at the time.
Limbaugh then cited the Economist’s forecast model showing Joe Biden with an 87 percent chance of winning the election and compared that to the famous New York Times projection model that on Election Day 2016 found Hillary Clinton holding an overwhelming 91 percent chance of victory.
“A couple of weeks before the election, 2016, October 18th, 2016, New York Times predicted Hillary Clinton had a 91% chance of beating Trump. Doesn’t matter, folks, whatever poll you look at, you can find today that has Trump trailing Biden by 12 points. You can find a poll four years ago that’s gonna show you the same thing. Just change the names. And they all turned out to be wrong. Not a single one of them was right,” Limbaugh added.
Polls can always change.
The events that will determine the election likely have not even happened yet.
Fake news reporters and Democrats celebrate Biden’s lead in the polls and believe what is true today will be true on Election Day.
But as Rush Limbaugh pointed out, the summertime polls in 2016 also showed Hillary Clinton with an edge.
And everyone knows how that turned on Election Night.
