Democrats tried one last ditch effort to save Joe Biden’s socialist agenda ahead of the 2022 midterms.
But Democrats never expected to face this huge problem.
And from Chuck Schumer’s past just resurfaced and now Democrats are doomed.
Democrats tried to save their majority by ramming a federal takeover of elections into law.
This dangerous legislation would mandate no-excuse mail-in voting in every state in America, destroy the ability to enforce voter ID laws and permit dangerous ballot harvesting schemes.
In short, it’s a recipe for massive fraud and Democrats know if it passes they will never lose another election again.
However, a Republican filibuster blocked this election-rigging scheme.
That led to Democrats trying to destroy the Senate by threatening to trigger the nuclear option and eliminate the legislative filibuster.
Democrats claim the legislative filibuster is an attack in democracy and a racist relic of the Jim Crow era.
Republicans slammed Democrats for politically motivated hypocrisy.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton pointed this out by using Chuck Schumer’s own words against him.
Cotton read a speech – word-for-word- that Schumer delivered years ago defending the filibuster as a pillar of democracy.
“The Senate is not a majoritarian body,” Cotton stated. “The bottom line is very simple. The ideologues of the Senate want to turn what the Founding Fathers called the cooling saucer of democracy into a rubber stamp of dictatorship. They will make this country into a banana republic where if you don’t get your way, you change the rules.”
Cotton quoted Schumer as once calling the nuclear option to eliminate the filibuster as the tool of radicals.
“The nuclear option is being pushed largely by the radioactive rhetoric of a small band of radicals who hold in their hands the political fortunes of the president,” Cotton stated.
Cotton then explained that these were the words of Chuck Schumer and that Cotton agreed with Schumer that eliminating the legislative filibuster would eviscerate the Senate and cripple democracy.
“Those are powerful words,” Cotton added. “But they’re not mine, every word of my speech today was originally spoken by our esteemed colleague, the senior senator from New York, Chuck Schumer … Think about it, the narrowest majority in Senate history wants to break the Senate rules to control how voters in every state elect senators. Could there be a better argument to preserve the Senate’s rules, customs and traditions?”
“So before it’s too late, let us reflect on the wise and eloquent words of Senator Schumer. Words that are as true today as they were when he spoke them. Even if Senator Schumer is singing a different tune today,” Cotton stated.
Schumer and the Democrats exposed themselves as power hungry hypocrites that really don’t care about constitutional norms and defending democracy.
