Democrats were stunned when they lost the 2016 election to Donald Trump.
And they’ve spent the last two years working to rig the next election to guarantee Trump’s loss.
But the awful plot to keep Trump off the ballot just blew up in the Democrats faces.
Donald Trump floored the Democrat Party when he pulled off a shocking upset against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
The defeat was one of the greatest humiliations in American political history.
Trump wasn’t even supposed to win the Republican nomination, let alone defeat Hillary Clinton – whom the Democrats had practically already coronated as Obama’s successor to the White House.
But after the dust settled and President Trump took the oath of office, Democrats across the country began plotting ways to ensure it would never happen again.
From endless investigations into bogus conspiracy theories to attempts to impeach him from office, Democrats are out to destroy Trump and ensure he does not get re-elected in 2020.
And there’s one state in particular leading the left-wing charge in trying to derail Trump’s chances of re-election.
California Democrats control the entire state government and have spent months working to make sure the President can’t run in the state, even for the Republican primary.
They just passed a law that would block the President from even having his name on the ballot.
But that move just blew up in their faces in a way they never imagined.
The Washington Times reports, “Judicial Watch, a conservative law firm, announced Monday is has sued California to stop the state’s new law requiring presidential candidates to release their tax returns or else be left off the primary ballot. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of four state voters who said their picks for president could be unfairly constrained by the law, which Gov. Gavin Newsom signed last week.”
Democrats in California thought they could keep Trump from getting on the ballot.
They thought wrong.
Not only is Trump on track to win re-nomination, but Democrats are powerless to stop the President from winning in 2020.
He doesn’t need California to pull off a second term – he just needs the same swing states in the Midwest that voted for him over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
But what’s more, Democrats never expected the President to sue them in the first place.
Trump just called California’s bluff and now taxpayers in the Golden State will have to dish out tens of thousands of dollars defending a left-wing power grab that was designed to deny the President from getting his name on the ballot.
It’s a public relations disaster that Democrats cannot afford.
“California politicians, in their zeal to attack President Trump, passed a law that also unconstitutionally victimizes California voters,” said Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton.
The results of the lawsuit are still pending, but the first round of the battle has already gone to President Trump.
