Adam Schiff just made the biggest mistake of his life.
Schiff thought he pulled off a master stroke that would lead to Donald Trump’s impeachment.
But the smoking gun proving Adam Schiff was guilty of one major crime against Trump emerged and ended up dealing Schiff and the Democrats one terrible defeat.
Schiff and his fellow Intelligence Committee Democrats hauled former special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker before the committee for a closed-door deposition.
Shortly before midnight on the day Volker testified, Schiff released selected text message conversations between Volker and other administration officials.
Schiff’s leak provided rocket fuel for the fake news media narrative that the Trump administration engaged in quid pro quo with the Ukrainian government over Ukraine agreeing to reopen an investigation into Joe Biden’s alleged interference in an investigation involving a Ukrainian energy company paying his son $50,000 to sit on its board of directors.
The fake and corrupt news media zeroed in on a September 9 text message from Ukrainian Ambassador Bill Taylor in which Taylor claimed that “As I said on the phone, I think it’s crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign.”
That was all so-called “journalists” needed to race to the conclusion that these texts were the “smoking gun” that proved Donald Trump committed the impeachable offense of leveraging American military aide to force a foreign government to investigate his political rival.
Within hours Schiff’s scam unraveled.
The official Twitter account for Republicans on the House Oversight Committee began tweeting out the facts of what Volker actually testified to.
“FACT CHECK: Ambassador Volker explicitly told us yesterday that there was NO quid pro quo between the Trump Administration and Ukraine. But Democrats don’t want to tell you that,” the account wrote.
The Oversight Committee Republicans’ Twitter account also directly addressed the September 9 text from Taylor revealing that Volker testified Taylor’s text was based on fake news media speculation and not actual knowledge of a quid pro quo.
“Ambassador Volker told us yesterday that Taylor’s knowledge here was from an August 28 Politico article. Not because Taylor had any independent information. It’s deceitful for Democrats to release these cherry-picked texts without full context of Volker’s testimony,” the account tweeted.
There is a reason Adam Schiff leaked cherry-picked text conversations obtained from Volker and not the actual transcript of Volker’s testimony.
That’s because Schiff wanted to dole out selected leaks that would allow his allies in the fake news media to run wild with fantasies about impeachment.
The actual substance of Volker’s testimony completely kneecapped Schiff’s conspiracy theories about a quid pro quo.
Volker’s testimony – and not the text messages – was the true smoking gun in this matter.
But since the testimony punched a hole in the impeachment narrative, the fake news media did their best to censor this vital information.
