Law enforcement in America are under siege.
Protestors and rioters are bullying politicians into defunding the police.
But that all changed when Trey Gowdy dropped one reality check about cops that had all hell breaking loose.
It’s fashionable in America to attack the police.
Celebrities, so-called journalists, athletes, academics and even some RINO traitors like Mitt Romney demonize police by smearing cops as racist killers out to hunt down young black men for sport.
The lack of respect for police in America is so pervasive that horrified viewers watched police precincts burn and be taken over by anti-cop militants in multiple cities across the country.
Trey Gowdy addressed this madness during an appearance on “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”
The vast majority of police officers are good and decent people that just want to serve the public and uphold the law.
Gowdy made that clear and drew on his experience as a former prosecutor to let America know the character of the men and women that protect and serve.
“I can tell you being a cop was a tough job a month ago, a year ago,” Gowdy explained to MacCallum. “I don’t know a cop that only has one job. I don’t know a cop that doesn’t have to have a second job to supplement his or her income so their kids have a chance to go to college.”
“It is a bad job, even on the days you make it home alive,” Gowdy added “and there are lots of times in this country where cops don’t make it home alive.”
What Gowdy said is true.
In 2019 police officers killed nine unarmed black men.
This is far from the “genocide” the hysterical voices in Black Lives Matter and their influential supporters in the fake news media, Hollywood and pro sports claim.
On the other hand, 48 police officers were killed in the line of duty last year.
There are undoubtedly corrupt, violent and criminal cops.
And they should be held accountable.
But Democrats are demoralizing the 99 percent of police officers that are good people by smearing them as a homicidal bigots.
After the media pushed the fake news about “hands up don’t shoot” after Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson killed Michael Brown after Brown fought with Wilson police pulled back.
The “Ferguson Effect” became a real thing as police officers held back on intervening in situations they perceived could be dangerous rather then get caught up in a firestorm over the use of force no matter how justified.
Not surprising crime began increasing in major cities across America.
Chicago’s Democrat mayor Rahm Emanuel said “They have pulled back from the ability to interdict.”
“They don’t want to be a news story themselves, they don’t want their career ended early, and it’s having an impact,” Emanuel added.
America risks falling into a period of anarchy and lawlessness and big city Democrat mayors defund and demonize their police forces in an effort to stay in office and not alienate the mob.
But as Trey Gowdy explained, the vast majority of police officers work impossible jobs and just try to do the best they can to protect the public and get home to their families at night.
