Gowdy continues to use his platform on Fox News to push an anti-gun agenda.
In recent appearances, Gowdy demanded Republicans pass unconstitutional red flag confiscation laws that allow the government to confiscate firearms without due process or the gun owner even being convicted of a crime or adjudicated as mentally ill.
Now Gowdy is using a liberal anti-gun activist and a transgender domestic terrorist carrying out acts of madness as a new excuse to attack firearms ownership in America.
If Joe Biden aired a show on Fox News nothing Gowdy said would be any different than a monologue delivered by Biden.
On the most recent episode of “Sunday Night in America,” Gowdy interviewed sociologist Dr. David Yamane and psychologist Dr. Kevin Gilliland to advance a bizarre theory that Americans were only buying firearms for self-defense only because the liberal media and Big Tech are filling their heads with an inflated sense of danger.
“I think we have to start by recognizing that guns have always been a fairly normal part of American culture. But the reasons that people owned guns have evolved over time and people have always had firearms for self-defense,” Dr. Yamane told Gowdy.
Dr. Yamane claimed gun culture evolved into Americans purchasing firearms to defend themselves from criminals.
“In the past 30 to 40 years, the self-defense motivation has really moved to the core of American gun culture. So this is what I call gun culture 2.0, the second evolution of American gun culture. Not everybody owns guns for self-defense, but a lot of people do,” Dr. Yamane continued.
Dr. Gilliland blamed the surge in firearms on Facebook, Twitter, and the corporate press bombarding Americans with stories about how their fellow citizens represent.
“And the more you fill your head, your psyche, and the more you read and watch, the more you get disrupted, and you feel far more vulnerable. And now fear and anxiety and worry starts to make choices, including protecting yourself,” Dr. Gilliland claimed.
“We do have a greater knowledge of it without question than we ever did again. We used to grow up with the worries that existed in our community, and we weren’t able to pursue or have information pushed our direction. There’s absolutely an element of that. That anxiety and fear and worry has permeated into our world because our world has gotten so much bigger, and we’re not built for a world with information pressing at us like it is. It’s why we caution our adolescents, and we need to caution ourselves,” Dr. Gilliland continued.
Gun sales skyrocketed during the pandemic because Americans had a very real fear about self-defense.
The NCIS conducted 40 million background checks in 2020 – up from just under 30 million in 2019 – because Americans saw Democrat mayors vilify the police and allow Black Lives Matter to riot and loot major cities.
Americans saw they needed to defend themselves because they believed if Democrats ran the government public safety was at severe risk.
