President Donald Trump is the anti-Barack Obama.
His vision of America is in stark contrast to the twisted vision from the former President.
And Trump just said two words that shook Obama to his core.
After every act of mass violence, Barack Obama’s answer was to restrict the Second Amendment rights of citizens.
He believes that taking guns away from law-abiding citizens will fix the problem.
But the fact of the matter is that the people who commit acts of mass violence are already criminals, and will get their hands on guns whether they are legal or not.
So banning guns only affects law-abiding citizens who will follow the law.
And it creates a major problem for those who can no longer defend themselves from criminals who have guns.
This is seen clear as day in the recent shooting in Virginia Beach, where an armed madman killed 12 people.
Because the shooting was in a municipal building, no other citizen could be armed.
And those in his path had to wait for a police officer to arrive before somebody could challenge the shooter.
President Trump understands this, and made the case for more guns following the shooting.
“When somebody has a gun illegally and nobody else has a gun because the laws are that you can’t have a gun, those people are gone. They have no choice, they have no chance,” Trump told Piers Morgan while in Britain.
Trump then adds one fact that Obama never wants people to think of:
“The people that obey the laws … those people are sitting ducks.”
Sitting ducks is the perfect explanation for those who cannot defend themselves.
In virtually all of the mass shootings that occur in the United States, the one thing they have in common is that the madman chose a gun-free zone.
Research from the Crime Prevention Research Center concludes that 98% of recent mass shootings occur in gun-free zones.
American schools are gun-free zones due to the Gun Free School Zones Act.
So when a demented person with a gun arrives on the scene, he is given free rein to kill whoever he wants until the police arrive.
Allowing even one teacher or other staff member to carry a firearm would at least give would-be victims a chance to fight back.
The only person in Congress who is taking serious steps to fix this is Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky.
He continues to file a bill to repeal the federal Gun Free School Zones Act.
Speaking to NBC, Massie makes his case for the bill, while citing the 98% statistic.
“We’ve labeled all of our schools as gun free zones. We need to take those labels off, and put our kids in that two percent category of being safe, instead of being in that 98 percent vulnerable category,” Massie said.
Do you agree with Thomas Massie?
