In Washington not everything is always as it seems.
That is especially true with a politician as dishonest and corrupt as Barack Obama.
But now Donald Trump told a crowd what Barack Obama said behind closed doors about Joe Biden.
Barack Obama entered the 2020 fray by stumping for Joe Biden in key swing states like Florida and Pennsylvania.
Obama made it very clear that defeating Donald Trump is a personal crusade because Obama understands that if Donald Trump wins a second term President Trump will complete the job of erasing Obama’s disastrous anti-American agenda.
But despite the buddy-buddy act from Obama and Joe Biden, there is another side to the Obama-Biden relationship.
At a campaign rally in Wisconsin President Trump regaled a massive crowd with stories about news reports of how behind closed doors Barack Obama tried to discourage Joe Biden from running in 2020 because Obama did not think Biden could win the General Election.
Trump noted how Obama never endorsed Biden until after the primary was over and not when his former Vice President entered the race.
“You know, it took him like a long time, right? You know why?” President Trump began.. “Because Obama was in shock that this guy won. He was in shock. It took him about two months to figure out what the hell happened.”
Last summer when Joe Biden’s campaign faltered in the Democrat primary Obama let it leak out to reporters that he never thought Biden should have run in the first place.
The New York Times reported, “The two men spoke at least a half dozen times before Mr. Biden decided to run, and Mr. Obama took pains to cast his doubts about the campaign in personal terms.”You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,” Mr. Obama told Mr. Biden earlier this year, according to a person familiar with the exchange. Mr. Biden — who thinks he could have defeated Donald Trump four years ago—responded by telling Mr. Obama he could never forgive himself if he turned down a second shot at Mr. Trump.
Obama believed Biden’s campaign was on the verge of imploding and Obama feared that Democrat Party primary voters rejecting his Vice President would mean they rejected him so Obama sought to distance himself from Biden.
Barack Obama only endorsed Joe Biden after Bernie Sanders dropped out of the race and Biden earned the right to be the party’s presumptive nominee for President.
Even as Joe Biden leads in the polls many Democrats believe Trump is still capable of winning the election.
A large part of that fear stems from the belief that Democrats understand that Joe Biden is a deficient candidate, which is why Barack Obama didn’t want him to run.
