Nancy Pelosi wants to destroy Attorney General William Barr more than anything.
His only crime is serving under President Trump.
But through all the attacks, Barr is standing strong and just told Pelosi the one thing she never expected.
Democrats used to love William Barr.
A then-Senator Joe Biden even heaped huge praise for Barr at one point.
But now that he’s serving in the Trump administration, they are desperate to destroy his character.
Barr is the one who was tasked with releasing the Mueller report and handed Democrats the bad news that Trump did not collude with Russia.
For doing that, Democrats are working to remove him from power and throw him in jail.
That’s why Speaker Nancy Pelosi is holding him in contempt of Congress.
But Barr appears unfazed.
He reportedly joked with Pelosi and asked if she brought her handcuffs while he walked past her.
“Attorney General Bill Barr spoke to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in person today, after the National Peace Officers Memorial Service at the Capitol. A source close to Barr says he asked Pelosi if she had brought her handcuffs. There was laughter but no word on Pelosi’s response,” Fox News Department of Justice producer Jake Gibson said on Twitter.
The vote to hold Barr in contempt of court entirely has to do with Barr refusing to break the law.
Democrats want the entire Mueller report to go public without any redactions, despite the fact that doing so would be in violation of the law.
But the House Judiciary Committee overwhelmingly voted to move the resolution to hold Barr in contempt forward.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler explained his reasons:
“Even in redacted form, the Special Counsel’s report offers disturbing evidence and analysis that President Trump engaged in obstruction of justice at the highest levels. Congress must see the full report and underlying evidence to determine how to best move forward with oversight, legislation, and other constitutional responsibilities,” Nadler said in a statement on Monday.
So they are punishing Barr for following the law.
And Nancy Pelosi, who is currently the most powerful Democrat, supports this move fully.
But it’s clearly going nowhere—and the fact that Barr is making jokes about it shows just how sure of himself he is.
Democrats are not going to be able to get the full unredacted report.
If they do, they will almost certainly leak it through the media.
That’s why President Trump is exercising his executive privilege to ensure it doesn’t happen.
