A new law from Florida is counteracting the Democrats open-borders insanity.
In fact, many illegal immigrants have already started ‘self-deporting’ out of Florida.
This is how DeSantis’s new law is working.
Due to laws passed by Governor Ron DeSantis (R), illegal immigrants are being warned to stay out of Florida.
The new Florida law requires employers to use E-Verify to verify the employment eligibility statuses of potential new employees.
Employers who don’t comply face fines of $1,000 per day. Any employer who knowingly employs illegal aliens will have their license suspended.
It also makes using a fake ID to gain employment a felony.
Domingo Garcia, president of the Latino advocacy group League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), called the new immigration law “hostile and dangerous.”
“As a result of this for only the second time in LULAC history, we’re issuing a travel advisory for anybody traveling to Florida,” Garcia said at a press conference in May.
Illegal aliens are already “self-deporting” themselves out of Florida due to the new laws.
“We’re fleeing the place we fled to,” one illegal alien who was brought as a child told Axios last Wednesday. “I remember when my mother sat me down and said, ‘things are bad; we have to leave,’ and I had to tell her that same thing.”
“I am leaving everything behind, everything that I worked for, having already started from scratch 16 years ago,” the illegal alien said.
“Laws like this, that do nothing more than harass immigrants, are bad for a state’s economy,” Lydia Guzmán, who leads LULAC’s immigration committee, told CNN.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador responded to the law by urging Latinos not to vote for DeSantis in the presidential election.
“All of his playing politics with migrants was because he wanted to be the Republican party candidate,” Andres Manuel López Obrador said in a press conference. “I hope the Hispanics of Florida wake up and don’t give him a single vote.”
During his campaign launch, DeSantis highlighted the actions he’s taken against illegal immigration.
“I’ve put a lot of my capital as Florida Governor in combating illegal immigration,” DeSantis told Elon Musk during his Twitter Spaces broadcast.
“We banned sanctuary cities my first year. We just did a strong anti-illegal immigration bill in Florida that’s working. I put marine assets in the Florida Keys to help the Coast Guard repel boats from places like Haiti … So I don’t think any governor has probably gone out of his way to do more to try to make an impact on this issue — and I’m not going to take no for an answer and I think our voters are sick of the empty promises. They want to see action.”
