Nancy Pelosi was fired up.
But Pelosi channeled her outrage in a surprising direction.
And now Nancy Pelosi called out John Fetterman for this shocking reason.
California Senator Dianne Feinstein’s been out of action recovering from shingles for over six weeks now.
Liberals are growing antsy as Feinstein sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee where Democrats hold a narrow 11 to 10 majority.
Feinstein’s absence means if all 10 Republicans oppose Joe Biden’s woke judicial selections the nomination dies in committee.
Confirmation of Biden judges ground to a halt and Democrats called for Feinstein to resign so Schumer can replace Feinstein on the committee and restart the judicial confirmation conveyor belt.
“It’s time for @SenFeinstein to resign. We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties. Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people,” California Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna posted on social media.
“I agree with @RoKhanna. Senator Feinstein is a remarkable American whose contributions to our country are immeasurable. But I believe it’s now a dereliction of duty to remain in the Senate and a dereliction of duty for those who agree to remain quiet,” Minnesota Democrat Congressman Dean Phillips also wrote on Twitter.
These resignation calls did not sit well with Nancy Pelosi.
In an interview with a local San Francisco CBS affiliate Pelosi blamed the calls for Feinstein to step down on sexism ranting that she had “never seen them go after a man who was sick in the Senate in that way.”
“For 20 years I have been the leader or the speaker of the House fighting for California, and I have seen up close and firsthand her great leadership for our country but especially for our state of California,” Pelosi added. “She deserves the respect to get well and be back on duty, and it’s interesting to me. I don’t know what political agendas are at work that are going after Senator Feinstein in that way.”
When Pelosi said no one called for an infirmed male senator to step down Pelosi had Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fetterman in mind.
Fetterman’s only served in the Senate a handful of days since winning election last fall due to complications from the near-fatal stroke Fetterman suffered last May.
Fetterman lied to voters about the level of physical and cognitive impairment he suffered from the stroke.
After the State of the Union Fetterman spent two days in the hospital after suffering headaches.
Two weeks later Fetterman was back in the hospital to receive treatment for clinical depression that The New York Times said resulted from Fetterman realizing the stroke he suffered would leave him a diminished version of himself.
No Democrats called on Fetterman to resign even though it is obvious to all that Fetterman — who cannot form complete thoughts or speak in coherent sentences without the aid of special technology — looks incapable of serving as a senator.
And that led to Nancy Pelosi calling out her own party for sexism.
